Have you ever experienced the feeling inside that something just doesn’t feel right but you don’t know what to do about it? It can be a paralyzing issue both figuratively and literally. What may have been just a thought in passing innocently developed into a disturbing concern that reappeared conveniently at 3am. Sound familiar? It is your body telling you to prepare for something you’re not ready to deal with or going to be comfortable with if this issue comes to fruition.
You, my friend, are at that proverbial fork in the road and can choose to opt along the more difficult path, shall I compound my clichés, the road less traveled – thank you Mr. Frost –- or choose the easier route and sit there and wait for more confirming evidence to appear before you’re forced to act upon your intuitions.
This is where my eloquent tale will pause and transition into a more layman’s form of tongue to explain my message. You see, this easier path is where most of us travel due to having no time or energy to deal with the issue at hand and then we find ourselves in that even more frustrating “Shoulda” moment, too late to act upon our initial suspicions.
There have been countless moments where I’ve heard from existing clients that they “shoulda” thought more about what was to come but instead found themselves distracted with life. Most, if not all, of their concerns were often wiped away through the blessings of employment or the healing of time. Now – they were at a different point in their lives and for many, they were about to choose to leave that career and attempt to better appreciate that fleeting asset called time.
I was prompted to write this because I speak with people each and every day about their worries, hesitations and fears. They’re not sure about their financial security or understand what they hold in their portfolios and together it makes them uneasy about their future. Solutions take action and actions are hard, even paralyzing.
In my experience with our clients, we empower them with knowledge and it takes the fear out of choosing a path toward their long-term solution. Act upon your instincts so you don’t find yourself saying I woulda, coulda, shoulda many years from today.
